Why is dog poop bad for my lawn?

Despite what many people think, dog poop is NOT a fertilizer. Its high nitrogen and phosphorus content actually burns grass, leaving brown spots and dead patches. It also contaminates the soil with harmful bacteria and parasites that persist for years.
