Managing Holiday Diarrhea Cleanup
Diarrhea from rich foods is dramatically different from normal waste cleanup. It spreads across a wider area, seeps into grass quickly, and carries a higher bacterial load.
- Use a flat shovel rather than a pooper scooper for liquid waste
- Place paper towels over liquid waste to absorb, then scoop towels and waste together
- Rinse the area immediately with a hose to dilute and flush residue
- Apply enzymatic spray to the affected area after rinsing
- Monitor your dog's output — if diarrhea continues beyond 24 hours, contact your vet

If your dog consumed cooked turkey or chicken bones, watch for bloody stool, straining, or signs of pain. These symptoms indicate possible intestinal perforation, which is a veterinary emergency.

- Brief all guests: no feeding the dog, no matter how those eyes look

Post-Thanksgiving Yard Recovery
If your dog did get into Thanksgiving food, expect 2-3 days of abnormal waste. Increase pickup frequency, apply enzymatic treatment daily, and return to normal routine once stool normalizes.
